Timber Sash Windows

Once the sash window is removed, you can now clean the glass. In order to clean it, you have to use heat to remove the soft compound that connects the glass to the pane. You have to do this slowly use a putty knife to separate the pane and the glass.

After taking the glass off the pane, you may now clean and repair the joints of the sash to smoothen the wood around it. You can apply epoxy to strengthen the wood from one corner to another. Paint the sash or put varnish to make it look new.

Once the pane is restored, the next thing to do is to lay the glass within the pane. Make sure the glass and the pane are tightly secured. You wouldn't want to have a slackly glass.

Once everything is dried up, you may connect the sash window with new sash cords which can give you that brand new sash window which you always had the first time.

Therefore, restoring a sash window will take lots of patience. Accurately removing the trim and redoing the sash cord takes a lot of measurement too.
